Sorry to hear about all your travel hassles! I really do empathise - it reminds me of traveling with the family up country to a workshop when we lived in Ivory Coast. The car kept overheating, we let it cool, put more water in and it overheated again - there was obviously a leak. We managed to limp to the next town and find a roadside mechanic. Fortunately he worked out what the problem was: the previous mechanic who had fixed our A/C had put the grill back on with the 2 screws the wrong way round, facing towards instead of away from the radiator. When the engine heated up and expanded the screws made nice holes in the radiator!! The clever mechanic mended the radiator, put the screws back the right way round and we were on the road again and reached our destination just before dark.
